CTHS Awards Scheme

Cherrybrook Technology High School encourages students to achieve excellence in all facets of their lives and educations. To this end, students are encouraged to apply for awards. This page explains, briefly, what each award is.

Merit Certificates are earned when students work well in class, produce excellent assignments or when teachers award them for many other reasons.

KLA Awards are earned when three Merit Certificates are presented from one KLA. For example, if you earn a Merit in Music, another in Drama and a third in Art, you are eligible for a Creative Arts KLA Award. However, two Maths Merits and one English Merit will not earn a Maths or English KLA.

Stage Awards can be earned by helping out at special events or assisting the year or stage group. The Stage Head Teachers write and sign these awards.

Bronze Awards can be earned by presenting six KLA awards (from at least three different KLAs) and two Stage Awards to their Year Adviser.

Silver Awards are awarded when a student presents two Bronze Awards and can show that they have undertaken fifteen hours of school service.

Gold Awards are awarded when a student presents a Silver Award and proof of BOTH fifteen hours school service AND fifteen hours community service.

Cherrybrook Medallion is achieved by negotiation with Mrs Navarro (Head Teacher Student Support). Students can apply for the Medallion in the Senior Years of school, once a Gold Award has been achieved. In brief, to achieve a Medallion, students need to show achievement and leadership in the following areas:

  • Academic
  • School
  • Community
  • The completion of a Student Leadership Initiative Project

There are no set number of hours required to achieve the Medallion. Medallions are awarded to successful candidates at the Year 12 Graduation Assembly.
